Abstract

1,264,747. Sliding clasp fasteners. TEXTRON Inc. 5 Aug., 1970 [18 Aug., 1969[, No. 37854/70. Heading E2S. On automatically locking slider for a sliding clasp fastening comprises a slider base plate 30 with an inverted trough-like cap 72 fixed to the neck portion 34 and a wire spring locking member 62 housed partly within the cap and located within grooves on shoulders 44, 54. The neck 34 and flanges 24 and 26 form a Y-shaped channel 32 into which the end 70 of the locking member protrudes and engages between coupling elements of the fastener when in the locked position. A cross-bar 19 (not shown) which is connected to a pull tab 16 (not shown) passes through slot 76 and is straddled by locking member 62. When the tab is pulled the cross bar releases the lock by withdrawing end 70 of the locking member. The inclined portions 50 and 56 on the shoulders give a camming action to assist in moving the locking member 62. The cap 72 is retained by pressing the sides at 74 into the ends of hole 52 in shoulder 44.
