1367987 Hand looms; shuttles CRAFTOOL CO Inc 1 June 1972 [2 June 1971] 25585/72 Heading D1E In a hand loom, warp is formed from a continuous thread which is alternately looped around a lower warp supporting bar 68, up and around the apex 50 of one of a series of V-shaped wire members 48 attached to a crossbar 44, down and around the bottom bar 68 again, and up and around a portion 54 of the member 48 projecting above the point of attachment thereof to the bar 44, and so on. Shedding is performed by pivoting the Crossbar 44, Fig. 3, so that the wraps looped around the apices 50 move alternately to one side and' then to the other of those looped around portions 54. The loom is arranged on a vertical frame which is telescopically adjustable to alter the distance between bars'44 and 68. The warp is tensioned by an elastic member 70 which has caps 74 which fit over the ends of the bar 68, and a loop 72 which is stretched and fastened on a projection 66 on an extension 62 of the frame. The wrap is initially wound at the lower end around a post 64 on the frame, as shown in Fig. 3, the bar 68 then being passed between the sheets so that the warp can be slid off the post 64 and spaced along bar 68.
