Abstract

1365675 Cooling furnace walls BRITISH CERAMIC SERVICE CO Ltd 2 Sept 1971 [10 Sept 1970] 43278/70 Heading F4B The walls and other surface structures of a furnace or kiln comprise permeable blocks 5 spaced from an outer shell 6, the space 7 being supplied with air through a regulator 12 and nozzle 10, and temperature sensing means measuring the cool surface temperature and controlling the regulator so that sufficient air is supplied to maintain the cool surface of the blocks at ambient temperatures without affecting the temperature of the hot inner surface. The permeability of the blcoks may be natural or manufactured and the structure may be divided into sections, each having its own air supply. The blocks may be made of porous or fibrous refractory.
