Abstract
539,957. Refractory material. LUCAS, L. R. J. April 25, 1940, No. 7471. [Class 22] Refractory material, such as high temperature insulation bricks, is coated with refractory material having substantially the same coefficient of thermal expansion as the material to be coated. Thus, bricks of the same material and manufacture as the bricks to be coated are crushed and mixed with a bonding material such as clay and water and a flux such as sodium silicate. The refractory material may be aluminous firebrick, silica brick, mullite, corundum, magnesite or chrome, and may be applied as a fine-grain undercoating and a coarse-grain topcoating.
