Abstract

1365323 Delivering sheets MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG - NURNBERG AG 2 Nov 1971 [24 July 1971] 50976/71 Heading B8R [Also in Division B6] Sheets 1, Fig. 1, are delivered from a printing machine to a stacking table 4 by gripper flyers 3 secured to endless chains 2, and in the zone where the chain direction changes from substantially vertical to horizontal, just before reaching sheet-retarding suction rollers 5, there is provided an arcuate guide plate 8, Figs. 1 and 3, having one or more rows of closely-spaced slots 9. Air under pressure is blown from tubes 10 through apertures 11 into the space between an angularly adjustable baffle plate 12 secured to each tube and the plate 8, the air flow being opposite to feed direction, to produce a vacuum effect which holds the free body of the sheet against the plate 8. Tubes 10 are spaced along the plate in feed direction. In another form, Fig. 4, the tubes 10 are replaced by suction chambers 15 communicating with a source of suction and with rows of perforations 16 in the plate 8.
