Abstract
1365067 Magnesia refractories UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 20 Dec 1971 [31 Dec 1970] 62079/70 Heading C1J A magnesia refractory, bulk density at least 2À8 gm./c.c., comprises 0À2 to 0À5 wt. per cent CaO, not more than 0À5 wt. per cent Fe2O3, not more than 0À1 wt. per cent Al2O3, up to 20 wt. per cent SiO2 and the remainder MgO, the SiO2 : CaO wt. ratio being greater than 5 : 1 and the refractory at 1500‹ C. containing not more than 0À25 volume per cent of a liquid phase along with a primary MgO phase and secondary refractory phase. Example 4 illustrates a composition comprising 89À3% MgO, 0À5% CaO, 10% SiO2 and 0À2% Fe2O3.
