Abstract

1363809 Clamps KERR INSTRUMENTS Ltd 18 July 1972 [9 June 1972] 33441/72 Heading E2B [Also in Division A5] A surgical clip comprises two elongated opposed members 12 and 14 pivotally connected by a roller (16) Fig. 1 (not shown) a blade member 42 attached to one elongated member by a hinge 44 such that the blade member can pivot in the same plane as the elongated members allowing blade surfaces 26 and 46 to contact evenly, and an adjustable closing means which may consist of a 'C' shaped spring 68 whose ends (64) and (66) engage in one of a row of depressions (60) and (62) in both elongated members forward of the roller (16). Opening of the clip is effected by use of suitably shaped forceps (not shown) which mate with depressions (70) in the elongated members for attachment and by use of a noose 74 tightened by a tool 76 and engaging grooves (72) or removal. Blade surfaces 26 and 46 are flat and either or both may have a channel 78. Alternatively one of the blade surfaces 26 and 46 can have lips (82) and (84) Fig. 4 (not shown) at each end extending normally toward the other blade surface. Reference has been directed by the comptroller to Specification 1073887.
