Abstract
1363767 Automatic speed control ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 12 Nov 1971 [13 Nov 1970] 52558/71 Heading G3R Pulses are produced in synchronism with the rotation of the crank-shaft of an internal combustion engine and form the input to a speed regulating circuit which controls the energization of a rotary armature electromagnetic device connected to the engine throttle valve. As shown, a winding 49 associated with the engine ignition generator supplies power lines 55, 56 over rectifiers 51, 52. The power is regulated and smoothed by Zener diode 53 and capacitor 54. The winding 49 also supplies pulses to a differentiating pulse shaper 60 and thence to a monostable multi-vibrator 70 producing square pulses of a predetermined length at the input frequency. A filter 80 time-averages the pulses to produce a frequency-proportional direct voltage which is compared with a reference voltage fixed by resistors 94, 95. Adjustment to a desired level is achieved by setting a potentiometer 97 in regulator circuit 90. An operational amplifier 91 with a P I characteristic controls transistors 101, 102 to adjust the current in a coil 34 which forms part of a rotary armature device, Figs.2-5 (not shown). The armature has a varying airgap and its rotary position determines the setting of the throttle valve of the engine. The load driven by the engine may be an A.C. or D.C. generator, a water pump, a power saw, or a rotary hoe. With a generator as load, a faster response to load changes may be achieved by applying a differentiated current signal to terminal 98 of regulator 90 using a current transformer, Fig. 7 (not shown).
