Abstract
1513796 Ignition systems; timing ignition ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 23 May 1975 [13 Nov 1974] 22479/75 Heading F1B An ignition system for an internal combustion engine having means for electronically adjusting the instant of ignition comprises an electrical pulse generator (not shown) which is connectable to the crank-shaft of the internal combustion engine and which is arranged to control an ignition voltage producing stage 7 by way of an electronic device for adjusting the instant of ignition and a speed identifying stage which is controlled by a speed dependent signal and by means of which the ignition angle within a predetermined speed range beyond a fixed maximum speed of the engine is adjustable to zero or to a very small value relative to top dead centre. The storing stage 11 transmits a stored voltage E to a speed threshold stage 12. The speed threshold stage compares the voltage E with a prescribed value and switches a change over switch 6 so that pulses A are switched through at speeds lower than maximum permissible speed. The function generator 16 is connected to a transmitter in the engine induction pipe. In a modification control according to engine temperature may be included. The invention can be used both for analog and digital ignition systems.
