Abstract

[Also in Division H3] The duration of the pulses fed to a solenoid controlling the fuel injection valve of an I.C. engine is determined by a differential transformer whose core is displaced in accordance with the degree of vacuum in the intake manifold. Pulses 22 (Fig. 1) produced in synchronism with the crank-shaft rotations, are squared in a monostable multi-vibrator 10, and fed to the opposed half-windings 35, 36 of a transformer 13 whose core 38 is mechanically linked to a pressure measuring box 40 sensing the vacuum in the intake manifold of the I.C. engine, thereby determining the amplitude of the pulses from the output winding 37. These pulses are fed through diode 14 to charge capacitor 15, connected to the base of a transistor 17, and at a predetermined level, transistor 17 conducts,transistor 18 is blocked and the solenoid 57 of the injection valve is energized, the duration of this condition depending on the amplitude of the charge on capacitor 15, and hence on the degree of vacuum in the intake manifold.
