Abstract
1356755 Image pick-up tubes ENGLISH ELECTRIC VALVE CO Ltd 6 July 1972 31662/72 Heading H1D In a vidicon, interference caused by voltage pick-up from the scanning coils in the lead to the field mesh 2 is avoided by connecting the mesh to a cylindrical conductor 6 the other end of which is connected to a lead-in pin 5 by a plurality of current paths symmetrically distributed about the axis; the current paths may comprise two insulated wires 7 and 8. The cylindrical conductor 6 should be of non-magnetic metal and may extend over the cylindrical part of the anode 4 (the G3 electrode); when the anode tapers, as illustrated, conductor 6 extends to the part where the taper starts. The tube is interchangeable with known tubes if the combined wall thickness of elements 4 and 6 is equal to the usual wall thickness of the anode; for example they may each have a wall thickness of 0À002 inch. The tube is not sensitive to its orientation within the scanning yoke.
