Abstract

1444062 Pick-up tubes ENGLISH ELECTRIC VALVE CO Ltd 15 April 1975 [8 June 1974] 25522/74 Heading H1D A camera tube has a gun which includes a cathode 1, grid electrode 2, anode 3, an electrode 7 which has a small aperture acting as the object for a subsequent focusing electrode (4, in the prior art gun of Fig. 1, not shown) and positioned at the beam cross-over, and a beam scraper electrode 9 to limit the solid angle of the electron cone which emerges into the focusing region. The distance between the anode and the electrode 7 is up to twice the anode aperture d, and is preferably d/ 2 , and the distance between the grid electrode and beam scraper electrode 9, which is preferably held at the same potential as the focusing electrode of the tube, is between 6 and 20 times the aperture diameter D in electrode 9. The arrangement reduces the variation of lag with signal current.
