Abstract

1351938 Reciprocating pumps and motors JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 24 Aug 1971 [23 June 1970] 30355/70 Heading F1A In a radial piston pump or motor comprising a rotor 11 with pistons 17 engaging an eccentric cam ring 24, 25, and cylinder ports 26 sequentially registering with an inlet 33, via the casing interior, and an outlet 30, via a valve plate 27, 28, axial extensions 20 of the pistons reciprocate in passages 23 connected to a chamber 22, and working liquid passes between extensions 20 and passages 23 from cylinders 15 to chamber 22 creating a pressure in chamber 22 for effecting the return strokes of the pistons. The pump shown has an impeller 31 in the inlet 33. Chamber 22 is connected to the inlet by a restricted passage 35 to vent air from the chamber. Slippers 18 are loosely secured to the pistons by rivets 19. The pistons in cylinder block 13 are located intermediate those in block 14.
