Abstract
1351457 Microwave ovens C E M TIBBS 19 April 1971 [20 March 1970] 13573/70 Heading H5H A microwave oven door seal comprises a quarter wave choke and a conducting plastic or rubber gasket 12 shaped to be retained within one or both closure surfaces 4, 5, by the rating configuration of a retaining member, e.g. a portion 11 of the oven door. Gasket 12 is a polypropylene copolymer including carbon black and is made up from four straight lengths of extruded material, mitred at the corners. The gasket 12 is retained by portion 11 without the use of adhesive. The cavity 10, Fig. 3 (not shown), of the quarter wave choke is closed by an extruded polypropylene member 13 or is filled with polypropylene. Gasket 12 may be a T-shaped extrusion, and is applicable to seals where the choke section is in the front face of the oven cavity 2. Gasket 12 may be fitted to the cavity front face or have one part thereon and the other part on the door. The door hinges or slides.
