Abstract
1350107 Stranding apparatus SIEMENS AG 10 Dec 1971 [25 Jan 1971] 57605/71 Heading D1T [Also in Division H1] Stranding apparatus comprises devices 5 for S-Z stranding elements 1, equipment 6 for S-Z stranding the resulting units 2, and hauloff means in the form of roller 7 rotated about its own axis to haul elements 1 and units 2 and rotated about the stranding axis of equipment 6 to twist the units before equipment 6. Devices 5 and equipment 6 each include a store for the running elements or units. Roller 7 may be replaced by a pair of opposed endless belts. Alternatively, each device may have separate haul-off means. Equipment 6 may comprise, Fig. 2, stores 15, 16 for the units which rotate in opposite directions about the stranding axis and whose capacity is cyclically varied, by movement of their adjacent end rollers, so that an increase in the capacity of store 16 is matched by a decrease in the capacity of store 15. Driven roller 18, mounted on rotating store 15, forms the haul-off means. Devices 5 may also each comprise stores 15, 16, in which case the hauloff means is formed by a store-mounted, power-driven roller 21.
