Abstract
1346385 Paper-making apparatus VALMET OY 9 Sept 1972 41994/72 Heading D2A A paper-making machine wire section comprises wires 2, 3 forming a single horizontal wire portion 5 followed by a double wire portion which curves downwardly at 6 for removal of water from a forming web by centrifugal force, the curved part 6 being subjected to pressurized air acting through it in the same direction as the centrifugal force. The wire 2 in the single wire portion 5 extends over dewatering members 4, e.g. foils, and the double wire portion curves round a box 7 having chambers 7a, 7b, 7c supplied with pressurized air preceded by a chamber 7d subject to vacuum. The box 7 may be replaced by a roll serving the same purpose. Suction boxes 10, a suction roll 11 and save-alls 9 and 13 are also provided. In a second embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the double wire portion curves upwardly following its downward curvature at 6. There may be more than two curves in the double wire portion.
