Abstract
1339302 Sliding clasp fastener OPTI-HOLDING AG 19 April 1971 [5 March 1970] 23246/71 Heading E2S A separable sliding clasp fastener has rows 4, 5 of interlocking members made from a plastics monofilament, sewn to stringer tapes 1, 2, and a separation mechanism comprising a thermoplastics plug 7, socket 6 and connector 8. The plug and either connector or socket with integral connector are pre-formed, having at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the fastener a substantially U-shaped cross section, and then welded directly to the stringer tapes or to stiffening foils 9 on the tapes. The plug and connector or integral connector and socket, may have perforated flanges 12 extending across the stringer tapes, and a channel (14) Fig. 3 (not shown) to accommodate the rows of interlocking members and the sewing threads 3 or the threads alone. The interlocking members may be removed in the region of the separation mechanism. In the case of the socket and connector being formed separately, the socket 8 may fit in a slot 11 in the connector 6, the two parts then being welded together.
