1439716 Separable sliding clasp fastener YOSHIDA KOGYO KK 17 April 1974 [20 April 1973] 16805/74 Heading E2S The invention relates to a separable slide fastener of the kind comprising a pair of stringers 10, 11, having longitudinal rows 12, 12 of interlocking fastener elements, a pair of sliders 13, 14 arranged reversely with respect to each other on said rows of fastener elements for longitudinal movement therealong to engage and disengage the same, each of said sliders having a body consisting of a pair of spaced-apart, and interconnected, wings 15, 16 adapted to define a generally Y-shaped guide channel therethrough, a stop member 24 arranged on one end of one 11 of said stringers for retaining said sliders on said one stringer when the other stringer 10 is completely separated therefrom, and a pin member 22 arranged on the corresponding end of the other stringer 10 for insertion through the guide channels of both of said sliders. The invention is characterised in that a pair of recesses 27, 28 is formed at that end 26 of one of said sliders disposed opposite to the other slider, said recesses being formed in the respective wings 15, 16 of said one slider so as to be substantially invisible at least from the outside surfaces of said wings, and a pair of tongues 29, 30 is formed at the corresponding end of the other slider and adapted to be neatly received in said recesses 27, 28 respectively for aligning said sliders when said pin member 22 is to be inserted into, or removed out of, their guide channels. The invention is also directed to an arrangement wherein one slider 13 only co-operates with a box member 34, Fig. 9, which is located at one end of the stringers 10, 11 for limiting the movement of the slider 13 and which has a pair of spaced-apart and interconnected plate portions 35, 36 having guide channels therein, the pin member 22 being adapted to be inserted through the guide channels of the slider 13, and the box member 34 and a pair of tongues 29c, 30c on the box member being adapted to be received in the recesses 27, 28 in the end 26 of the slider 13. In a modification, Fig. 7 not shown, the tongues (29a) and recesses (27a) are of unvarying width and thickness, the leading edges (31) of the tongues (29a) being rounded. In a further modification, Fig. 8, not shown the tongues (29b) have notches (32) the recesses (27b) having corresponding protuberances (33).
