Abstract

988,659. Sliding clasp fasteners. LIGHTNING FASTENERS Ltd. Feb. 7, 1964 [Feb. 25, 1963], No. 5279/64. Heading E2S. A sliding clasp fastener comprises a pair of stringer tapes with coupling elements 8 formed from a plastics filament attached thereto by one or more lines of stitching 7 and a moulded plastics separable connecting device for the stringers comprising a pin member 2 and a box member each secured to one end of a stringer and each having an integral, longitudinally tapering prolongation 6 on one or both sides of the stringer extending along the line of stitching at least including the base of the first coupling element. The pin member 2 and the box element (not shown) are produced on the tape by moulding an injected plastics material, reinforcement ribs 3, 4 being moulded at the same time so that they adhere to the end of tape 1 on both of its surfaces. The reinforcement ribs may have various cross-sections Figs. 3-10 (not shown). The pin member and box member are prolonged into a cone 6 which covers the sewing threads 7 and the base of the second element
