Abstract

1335174 Fuzes SVENSKA AB BROMSREGULATOR 20 March 1972 [31 March 1971] 12887/72 Heading F3A A fuze for a submersible torpedo or mine comprises two electrically-fired detonators 7 and 8, Fig. 2, mounted in a rotor 9 which is rotatable by a spring 12 into an armed position against the retarding action of a viscous brake 13, the rotor being released when water pressure acting on a piston 16, Fig. 3, overcomes the force of a spring 18 and withdraws a latch 14 from the rotor. As the rotor rotates, an arrangement of contacts co-operates with a printed circuit on the rotor (Fig. 4, not shown) to supply electric power to electronic activating equipment, to cease short-circuiting the detonators, and thereafter to couple the detonators to the activating equipment. If the fuze is withdrawn from the water before it is completely armed the latch 14, Fig. 3, will enter one of the recesses 33 in the rotor to hold it at safe. Prior to use, the piston 16 is held against displacement by means of a removable pin 20. The viscous brake 13, Fig. 2, comprises a number of plates carried by the rotor with intervening plates carried by the housing 4, the small space therebetween being filled with a viscous silicone oil.
