Abstract
982,049. Land mines. H. KLOSTERMANN, [trading as R. RINKER]. Dec. 6, 1962 [Sept. 22, 1962], No. 46193/62. Heading F3A. A land mine in which the fuze comprises a spring-stressed firing pin 17 held away from a primer 16 by a retaining member 7 is provided with a clackwork actuated locking member 4b engaging a notch 7b on the member 7 to render the mine safe. Moreover, when the mine is armed, a load acting on a head 7c of the member 7 prevents operation of the mine. The mine housing 1 is of plastics material divided by a web into compartments for housing explosive charges 26, 27 and the fuze components, the clockwork 4, which has a winding shaft 4a, being placed eccentrically. A membrane 8, e.g. rubber, seals the mine cover 3. To set the mine, the clockwork 4 is wound by means of a handle 25 and a weight, of at least 1 kg. and up to a maximum of 100 kg., is placed on a pressureplate 9, which bears against the head 7c through membrane 8 and so frees the member 4b. When the clockwork has run down, the member 4b is withdrawn from the member 7. If the weight is then lifted, the member 7 is pushed aside by the striker, which then fires the primer 16. This in turn fires a detonator 19, which ignites a relay 13 and so detonates the charges 26, 27. In a modification (not shown) the member 7 and membrane 8 are replaced by a ram displaceable axially of the mine by a spring to free the striker when the locking member 4b is withdrawn by the clockwork mechanism.
