Abstract
Fuze for a bomb, comprises a detonator (not shown) carried in a pivotable carrier 14, a first locking element 13 which engages the carrier in a safety position but is displaced a predetermined time after release of the bomb, and a second locking element 26 which engages the carrier in the safety position but is displaced after impact of the bomb by the glass resulting from the combustion of a delay charge 39, the carrier then being swung by a spring into a position where combustion of the remaining part of the delay charge causes firing of the detonator. The first locking element is held against axial rotation by engagement with a pin but is displaced axially by a spring when a recess in the end face 11 of a rotatable striker guide 8 is aligned with the locking element, following shearing of a pin 19 which extends into a circumferential recess in the end face. The guide 8 is rotated by a striker 4 driven through reduction gearing 3. A spring loaded pin locks the first locking element in the inactive position. The striker is formed with an inertia mass 5 and is thrown against a primer 40 upon impact of the bomb. The second locking element is displaced by combustion gases fed into a chamber 29, and is held in the inactive position by engagement of its head 31 in a capsule 33.
