Abstract
1334896 Hydraulic reciprocating motors NUTRON CORP 12 Aug 1971 [19 Aug 1970] 37932/71 Heading F1A In a hydraulic motor comprising a rotary cylinder block 34 with pistons 86 engaging multilobed cam trucks 88, 89, a chamber 70 surrounding the cylinder block is maintained at a predetermined pressure lower than the inlet and exhaust pressures, so that the pistons are kept in contact with the cam tracks. Liquid passes to and from the working cylinders via passages 72, 74 in fixed valve member 30 and passages 82, 84 in the cylinder block. Valves 96, (101) Fig. 3 and Fig. 2 (not shown), control the pressure in chamber 70, and have valve elements subjected to the pressure in chamber 70 and the pressure in the inlet passage or exhaust passage, respectively, one or other of the valves being operational depending on the direction of rotation of the motor. Valve constructions providing different relationships between the chamber pressure and inlet and exhaust pressures are described, Figs. 4 to 6 (not shown). The chamber pressure may be made greater than the inlet pressure to move the pistons inwardly clear of the cam tracks, so that the cylinder block freewheels, a circuit incorporating this facility being described, Fig. 7 (not shown). An annular chamber 38 defined between the drive shaft 12, valve member 30 and cylinder block 34 is connected to atmosphere via passage 59, so that shaft seals 24, 26 are not subjected to pressure.
