Abstract

1334396 Jib cranes SIEMENS AG 31 Dec 1970 [31 Dec 1969] 62050/70 Heading B8B A double crane, on board a ships,comprises a rope tower 20 and two similar jibs 2, each mounted for luffing on a slewing ring 23 driven by a motor 24. The lifting and luffing ropes 19, 3 are guided in the interior of the tower 20 and are respectively operated by rope drums 9, 13 driven by motors 11, 12 through a gearing unit 10, the units 9 to 12 being arranged at fixed locations adjacent the foot of the tower 20. In order to obtain a parallel position of the two jibs 2 for joint operation their feet are attached to their respective slewing rings 23 by two bolts (34), Fig. 1c (not shown), which may be released and relocked in an alternative position. In a further embodiment, Fig. 2a (riot shown), the feet of the jibs 2 are mounted on respective discs (37) adapted to turn independently on a platform (36) arranged to slew as a unit with the discs (37). The slewing motors 24 are arranged in a fixed location near the foot of the tower 20 and may be coupled for joint operation to slew the platform (36).
