Abstract

1334395 Jib cranes SIEMENS AG 31 Dec 1970 [31 Dec 1969] 62049/70 Heading B8B An installation, on board ship or in a harbour, includes two slewing and luffing cranes 1, 2 arranged on and supported by a housing 3 for independent or joint operation. The housing 3 can be rotated about a fixed column 14 by a motor (not shown) driving a pinion (not shown) meshing with a gear 15 attached to the column 14, these parts being arranged in the housing 3. Also arranged in the housing 3 are the means for operating the similar cranes 1, 2, i.e. slewing motors 4, 5 with motor-generator sets 4a, 5a for supplying them, lifting motors 6, luffing motors 7 and so on. All the parts in the housing 3, except the column 14, rotate with it. The towers 1b, 2b are openwork towers and the lifting and luffing ropes 12a, 12b are guided within them. The ropes 12a may jointly operate a grab (26), Fig. 3 (not shown), a differential limit switch (27), Fig. 4 (not shown), between rope drums 8 indicating " grab open " and " grab closed " positions. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the slewing motors 4, 5 may be arranged to be uncoupled from slewing rings 10 and coupled to the gear 15 to eliminate the separate slewing drive for the housing 3.
