Abstract
1334247 Agglomerating ores ACIERIES REUNIES DE BURBACH-EICH-DUDELANGE SA 27 Nov 1970 [27 Nov 1969] 56531/70 Heading C1A A method of agglomerating iron ores by sintering on a bed composed of two layers is characterized in that the lower layer is given a greater permeability than the upper layer by incorporating in the upper layer substances which decrease the permeability and/or incorporating in the lower layer substances which increase the permeability. The bottom layer may have incorporated in it returned agglomeration fines to increase permeability and/or the top layer may have incorporated in it blast furnace dusts. In addition the top layer may be compacted and/or the bottom layer broken up by purely mechanical means. Alternatively the permeability of the two layers may be varied by providing for different moisture contents in the two layers.
