Abstract

1333692 Delivering sheets; folding apparatus VELUWSE MACHINE INDUSTRIE NV 13 Jan 1972 1646/72 Heading B8R A sheet stacking apparatus which may also be used for zig-zag folding of a web comprises an endless conveyer belt 2, which extends around rollers 5 and 6 mounted on a reciprocable carriage 10. The carriage is movable by a piston and cylinder arrangement 8, 9 to a position where it extends over a vertically movable support surface 13. Rollers 4 and 5 are rotatable in only one direction such that the belt is stationary relative to the carriage on movement of the carriage over the surface and moves over the carriage rollers to deposit a sheet on return of the carriage. A fixed cutting blade 11 cooperates with a blade 12 mounted on the carriage so that sheets are severed from a web 3 on every reciprocation of the carriage. When used as a zig-zag folder a clamp means 19 clamps the belt relative to a fixed frame of the apparatus on the outward movement of the carriage and releases it on the inward movement. Thus web 3 is rolled off the carriage in both directions of movement thereof.
