1331323 Overhead railway system in mine roadway CROCKETT ENG Ltd 21 March 1972 [31 March 1971] 8361/71 Heading B7L An overhead railway system in a mine roadway which provides a larger passageway alongside, comprises two rails 10, 11 suspended at different heights and asymmetrically of the width of the roadway and a plurality of cars each comprising a load-carrying platform 20 suspended by hangers 21, 23 from trolleys 16, 18 running on the rails. The I-section rails 10, 11 are suspended by chains 14 from beams 12, 13 attached to roof arches 15 and the rail 11 extends centrally along the roadway. Each car is supported on four trolleys, the two trolleys on each rail being linked together. Each hanger comprises a pair of strips as 24 depending from the associated trolley, each strip having a row of holes adjacent its lower end, and an upstanding strip 25 on the platform which has a similar row of holes at its upper end and bolts 26 are inserted into selected holes in the three strips to give the hanger the desired length. The platform may extend to the right of the hanger 21. Additional trolleys may be used for supporting cables.
