1325994 Clothes dryers; sunshades HILLS INDUSTRIES Ltd 24 April 1972 [22 Jan 1971] 3026/71 Headings A4P and A4U [Also in Division E2] In a clothes dryer comprising radial linesupporting arms, 14 connected by pivoted stays 6 to a ring 5 at the top of a standard 1 and pivoted to a bearing ring 11 which overlies a support sleeve 10, the sleeve 10 is slidable along the standard carrying with it the ring 11 and the ends of the arms 14 to open and close the dryer, and is rotatable on the standard relatively to the ring 11 to engage a pin 9 projecting from the standard in a bayonet slot 30 in the sleeve to lock the sleeve at a predetermined location on the standard. The ring 11 is engaged between a lip 32 and shoulder 29 on the sleeve 10, the sleeve below the shoulder forming a handgrip 28, which has an arrow indicating the direction in which the sleeve should be turned to engage the pin in the closed end of the bayonet slot. The stays 6 are pivoted in U- section mountings 7 integral with the ring 5, which is rotatable on a member 2 in which the top of the standard is wedged, and each carries a U-shape bracket 15 which is attached to an arm 14 by a removable shim 16. A clothes line is supported by apertured closure caps 18 for the tubular arms 14 and by members 20 having two parts which are press-fitted together and grip the arms. A canopy 22 allows use of the dryer as a sunshade or provides protection from the weather for the clothes and is centrally supported at an adjustable height by a vertical rod 23 secured in the member 2 by a wedge 24 or by a ring. Pivot pins 8, 13 and 17 each consists of two cylindrical, headed bodies fitted end to end by the engagement of a projection on one in a hole in the other.
