Abstract

1313487 Surface cleaning method PYRENE CHEMICAL SERVICES Ltd 22 June 1971 29275/71 Addition to 1309092 Heading C5D Soiled surfaces other than the painted surfaces of road vehicles (see Specification 1,309,092) are cleaned with an aqueous solution containing an alkali metal polyphosphate, an alkali metal silicate, a complexing agent, an alkyl phenol polyoxyethylene condensate, an anionic phosphate ester surface-active agent and a hydrophilic solvent. The polyphosphate may be a pyrophosphate, the silicate a metasilicate, the complexing agent a compound of formula HOCO(CHOH) n CH 2 OH, where n is at least 4, the alkyl phenol nonyl phenol and the solvent a ketone or an alcohol such as a glycol or glycol ester. The composition may be applied to painted and plastic surfaces particularly plastic trays. The composition is sprayed on hot, then rinsed off with water and the surface dried with an air blast.
