Abstract

1309458 Cartridge belt feeding BREVETS AERO-MECANIQUES SA 17 June 1970 [14 July 1969] 29375/70 Heading F3C In an automatic weapon belted ammunition is fed to an insertion aperture 1a in an ammunition bearer 1. The links 3 of the belt are formed with two ammunition retaining claws 3a, 3b the free ends of the claws being provided with inclined tabs e the outer surfaces of which when the link is supporting a round 2 of ammunition above the insertion aperture co-operate with bevelled surfaces s 1 of the lip of the insertion aperture. In the construction shown two pairs of inclined surfaces are provided, the forward pair being of a greater height than the rearward pair to hold the link so that the round of ammunition is inclined to the path of movement of a reciprocating breech bolt 4 which urges the round 2 into the chamber of the weapon. The central portion of each link is formed with an arch (Fig. 2, not shown) and a hook 3d opposed to each other so that several links may be hingedly connected together. The claws 3a, 3b expand radially upon extraction of the cartridge.
