Abstract

1309029 Hair brushes STANCE INDUSTRIES Inc 28 Oct 1971 [7 Dec 1970] 50105/71 Heading A4K A brush head of a hairbrush comprises a plurality of concentric rings 11a to 11c interconnected by flexible hinges 15b and 15c and having stiff bristles 17 mounted thereon preferably moulded together with the concentric rings. The head is mounted on a base 3 which includes a handle 5 and a carrier support 7 with a non-flexible backing 23. A backing 19 of sponge-like material 21 is placed behind the concentric rings, a water impermeable layer 25 being placed between the backing 19 and the rings. To enable the hairbrush to float, the handle may be made hollow and the amount of sponge-like material in relation to the overall weight of the brush be correctly proportioned. The brush is preferably made from polypropylene containing 10% by weight Oleic acid which has a smooth lubricated surface.
