Abstract
1305226 Railway airline couplings GERMANY MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT 9 Feb 1970 6043/70 Addition to 1287155 Heading B7T [Also in Division F2] In the airline coupling between railway stock having an automatic central buffer, coupling and railway stock having a conventional drawhook screw coupling (as disclosed in Specification 1,287,155), the airlines of the automatic central buffer coupling are telescopic so as to be able to move out to butt against the airline coupling 1 associated with the drawhook screw coupling, and the latter coupling support 2 is provided with a bracing member 16. Laterally swingable cover flaps are also provided on the automatic coupling, said flaps moving to cover the airline mouthpieces subsequent to an uncoupling operation, and the bracing member 16 extends laterally from said support 2 so as to be engageable by the cover flap device 18 during uncoupling so as to assist the separation of the airline coupling members. The end of the bracing member 16 is arranged so as to engage a surface 17 of the automatic coupling 9 when in the coupled position to assist retention of the coupling member 1. A part 16a of the bracing member 16 is arranged to face towards the housing of the airline coupling of the automatic central buffer coupling and to lie to one side of the associated airline mouthpieces when in the coupled position. This portion 16a moves laterally across the ends of said associated airline mouthpieces during a coupling up operation and thereby prevents the telescopic airlines from premature extension and possible damage.
