Abstract
1304399 Packaging ACI OPERATIONS PTY Ltd 15 May 1970 [15 May 1969] 23770/70 Heading B8C Separating strips 11 for insertion between bottles in a carton are severed at the inserting station from continuous lengths 14 and are then pushed down between the bottles by pincers 18, 19. A conveyer passes loaded cartons below a number of inserting stations at each of which strips are inserted at right angles to the strips of the preceding or succeeding stations. The conveyer may stop when a carton is below an inserting station' or the conveyer may move continuously, in which case the inserting mechanism moves with the conveyer during insertion. At an inserting station, each continuous length 14 is fed by rollers 15 until a microswitch 17 is contacted to stop the rollers and operate the severing device 25. Fixed guides 16 maintain the strips vertical, and retractable guides may be provided to support the lower edge of the strip until the latter is gripped by the pincers 18, 19. All the pincers at one station are linked, Fig. 5 (not shown), so that they operate in synchronization to push the strips down between bottles located on centres 10.
