Abstract

1299735 Resilient sealing strip C F LAWSON 20 March 1970 [20 March 1969] 14681/69 Heading E1J A draught sealing strip suitable for sliding windows comprises two lengths 1 and 2 of resilient plastics material each having a fold line 5, 8 dividing it longitudinally into a body portion 3, 6 and a flap portion 4, 7, the angle between flap and body of length 1 being from 110‹ to 175‹ and the angle between flap and body of length 2 being smaller than that of length 1, and the two body portions 3, 6 being secured together so that the flap 7 contacts the flap 4 intermediate its outer edge and the fold line 5. Lengths 1 and 2 may be of the same material, e.g. nylon, P.V.C., polyethylene, but length 2 is preferably thicker and less flexible thereby to maintain length 1 in the required position. Length 2 is folded to the required angle when heated and then cooled to retain the fold permanently, and is bonded to length 1 by adhesives or heating. Pressure-sensitive adhesive 9 may be coated on the outer surface of body portion 6 for securing the strip to e.g. one of a pair of sliding glass panes, the outer edge of flap 4 contacting the other pane.
