1,259,871. Vehicle glazing trim strip. HOWARD CLAYTON-WRIGHT Ltd. 11 Feb., 1970 [11 Feb., 1969], No. 7222/69. Heading E1R. A resilient trim strip for the edge of a pane of glass 9 secured to the rebated edge of an aperture in a vehicle body panel 10, comprises an outer face limb 14, a first inner limb 15 extending transversely from one end of the outer face limb 14, and a second inner limb 16 extending from the free end of the first inner limb 15 at an acute angle thereto towards the outer face limb 14, so that a glazing assembly may be formed by bonding the glass pane 9 with a bead of adhesive glazing material 13 to a rebated flange 11 connected by a transverse web 12 to the main body panel 10, and pressing the inner limbs 15, 16 of the trim strip towards each other to enable them to be inserted in the gap between the web 12 and pane 9, where the inner limbs engage resiliently against the web and the pane and the outer face limb 14 covers the gap. To facilitate the bending of the limb 16 towards the limb 15, a longitudinal groove 18 is formed in the trim strip during its extrusion from a plastics material or rubber, thereby weakening the strip at the joinder between the inner limbs 15, 16. Also during extrusion an embellishment strip 17 of metal foil may be incorporated. Outwardly projecting lips may be provided on the second inner limb 16 to engage the inner face of the glass pane 9 and to be embedded in the glazing bead 13.
