Abstract

129,886. Davey, E. N. Oct. 18, 1918. Tool-holders.-In a tool-holder having two sections 15, 16 with channels 21, 22, to carry the tool 23, the upper channel 21 is made shallower toward the front end 24 of the holder, so that the tool is gripped at that part. The parts 15, 16 may be made in one piece bent over at 23<a>, or in two parts riveted or welded together, and may be formed of steel, or of malleable or cast iron for light work. The parts 15, 16 are separated by slots 20 for the greater part of their length, to enable the tool-post screw 13 to spring them together to grip the tool. The channels 21, 22, may run diagonally for right or left handed tools, or longitudinally, as shown in Fig. 1, in which case a hole 17 may be provided for a wire to force out the tool if necessary. In some cases, the channels 15, 16, may be formed as recesses in one side of the sections 15, 16.
