Abstract
1297129 Migration imaging; photographic materials XEROX CORP 15 Dec 1969 [16 Dec 1968] 60927/69 Headings G2C and G2H A migration imaging process utilizes a web 8 comprising migration material 13 and a softenable layer 12 and comprises applying an imagewise migration force to the material 13 (e.g. by charging and exposing), softening the layer 12 e.g. by vapour 28 so that the material 13 imagewise migrates to a substrate 11, and splitting the layer 12 to separate the migrated and non-migrated particles 13 to form complementary images. As shown splitting is carried out by pressing a web 36 against web 8. After splitting the images may be glazed using solvent vapour, or material 12 may be dissolved away. Web 36 may be coated with photo-resist (Example 23), exposed using particles 13 as a mask and then treated with solvent to remove the unexposed photo-resist. Particles 13 may be of different colours sensitive to different parts of the spectrum.
