Abstract
1296505 Pharmaceutical compositions F HOFFMANN-LA ROCHE & CO AG 9 June 1971 [10 June 1970] 19646/71 Heading A5B Pharmaceutical tablets for use in the treatment of Parkinsonism comprising (a) from 60% to 80% by weight L-dopa, (b) from 1% to 10% by weight of a binder comprising amylopectin, polyvinylpyrrolidone or a mixture preferably comprising equal quantities thereof, (c) from 1% to 40% by weight of a tablet disintegrant and (d) from 0.5% to 3% by weight of a tabletting lubricant may be prepared by wet granulating a formulation comprising (a), (b), (c) and (d). The lubricant may comprise talc and stearic acid, calcium stearate, magnesium stearate or products consisting of the di- and tri-glycerides of fatty acids such as stearic and palmitic acid, preferably equal quantities of talc and magnesium stearate; and the disintegrant may comprise microcrystalline cellulose, methyl cellulose, hydroxyethylcellulose or chemically modified starch fractions. The tablets may also contain colouring agents and other therapeutically active ingredients such as compounds which potentiate the action of L-dopa.
