Abstract

1294713 Reciprocating pumps WARREN PUMPS Inc 13 Feb 1970 [19 Feb 1969] 7093/70 Heading F1A A multi-cylinder reciprocating pump comprises an even number of parallel plungers 15 grouped into pairs and actuated by cams 2, 3 mounted on a cam-shaft 1, the cams of each pair of plungers being mounted 180 degrees out of phase, and the plungers being linked by a doubleended rocking lever 22, so that as one plunger performs its delivery stroke, the lever 22 ensures the return of the other plunger of the pair. Each plunger 15 co-operates with its cam via a roller 13, and a spring 21 assists the return stroke. The pumping chambers 17 are each provided with annular lift inlet and outlet valves 18, and the cam-shaft 1 is driven through gearing 4, 8, 11 which also drives a gear pump 12 for circulation of lubricant.
