Abstract

129,199. Fuel Saving Co., (Assignees of Wood, W. D.). Sept. 27, 1918, [Convention date]. Fuel, feeding.-Apparatus for feeding pulverized coal to furnaces, of the type comprising one or more pairs of closely adjacent screw-conveyers, is provided with means for supplying an air blast about the forward ends of the conveyers to carry the fuel to the furnace. As shown, pairs of conveyers 12, each pair separated. by a partition 56 to prevent one conveyer merely feeding the other, draw fuel from a bin 4 into the path of an air blast passing through an enlargement 14 of the casing 5 of the conveyers. The conveyers are driven in opposite directions by an engine 29 through clutches 34, 35 interconnected with dampers in the air passage so that when one pair of conveyers is not working its air blast is cut off. Partitions 16 in the enlargement 14 deflect the blast around the conveyers. The engine 29 is provided with a speedometer and a governor adjustable from a distance to vary the rate of feed.
