Abstract

1290628 Valves M J BERLYN 22 April 1971 [8 Sept 1970] 10783/71 Heading F2V [Also in Division F1] An hydraulic actuating means for the spring returned admission valve 20 of a reciprocating expansion motor (not shown) comprises a slave cylinder 50 and a slave piston 56 having operative connection with the admission valve, a plunger pump 27, rotary cam means 25 operable to initiate displacement of the plunger of the pump at a constant angular position of the cam means to deliver oil under pressure from the pump to the slave piston, an automatic non- return filling valve 44 for the plunger pump and controllable-spill means 34 adapted to spill oil from the pump at any desired point in the delivery stroke of the plunger of the pump. The vertical adjustment of the control sleeve 35 affects only the closing point of the valve 20.
