Abstract

1287603 Feeding device in a trimming machine W SIGLOCH [trading as GROSSBUCHBINDEREI WALTER SIGLOCH] 8 Sept 1969 [7 Sept 1968] 44245/69 Heading B4B A method of feeding inner books in a trimming machine comprises feeding a book 11 in a vertical position with its back or spine facing downwards and locating the spine on a support bracket 12, clamping the book adjacent the spine to the bracket, tipping the bracket into an horizontal position and feeding it forward into the working range of the knives of the trimming machine. The bracket 12 includes a plate 13 hinged at 21 to a feed table movable along a path 20 and provided with a roller 23. An angle plate 14 is secured to the plate 13 and is arranged to support the book as shown after the latter has been fed from a gluing stage. A clamp 16 is pivotally mounted on a slide 18 which is adjustable on the plate 13. In operation as the feed table is moved towards the cutting position, the roller 23 contacts a cam surface 24 which causes the bracket 12 to be tilted into the horizontal position.
