Abstract

1276733 Containers S S CORHANIDIS 13 June 1969 [14 June 1968] 30082/69 Heading F4H A cooling or heating system for packages contained in an enclosure 1 comprises a heater or cooler 2 and fans 3 from which air is supplied through a vertical passage to a ceiling space 6 and distributed through outlets 7, 8, floor openings 13, 14 being provided for the return of the air to fans 3, the openings 8 and 13 being larger than the openings 7, 14, so that air tends to flow transversely across the enclosure from openings 8 to openings 13. If the packages are impermeable, air flows from openings 7, 8 to openings 13, 14 respectively. A cooler 2 may be replaced by a spray system for liquefied nitrogen or carbon dioxide, which is circulated by the fans 3. The enclosure 1 is thermally insulated. The openings 7, 8 may be adjustable.
