Abstract

1275942 Two-part coupling BUNKERRAMO CORP 12 Aug 1969 [9 Sept 1968] 40172/69 Heading H2E A socket connector comprises a block with a cavity having on at least one side thereof a pair of ribs 36, 38 on opposite sides of a longitudinal plane, and also aligned grooves 44, 46 therebesides, the ribs being provided with shoulders 32, 34 forming fixed stop elements and also including a contact element 23 having stop elements 66, 68 thereon which when inserted into the cavity in a given direction has one of the stop elements 68 riding in the groove 44 with the other element 66 engaging the aligned rib until they engage stop elements 34, 32 in the cavity. The contact 23 may be removed by inserting a pry 80 in either direction in one of the grooves for flexing one of the stop elements 66, 68 inwardly so that contact 23 can be removed from the opposite direction. The contact element may be fabricated from a single sheet of metal with the stop elements 66, 68 formed on opposite sides of a longitudinal seam, and also having a pair of tongues 62 for engagement with a socket pin when inserted into the socket contact.
