Abstract

1,273,781. Plastics carrier bags. RAION YUSHI K.K. 3 June, 1969 [3 June, 1968], No. 27982/69. Heading B8K. [Also in Division A4] In order to ensure that the handles 3 of a sealed plastics carrier bag 1 are not severed during content removal, the handles are attached one to each of a pair of opposed folds 12 formed by partially turning the bag inside out about its upper sealed end 11. The handles may be secured within the folds as shown, or be secured to the outer surface of the inner (Fig. 5) or the outer (Figs. 1, 2) side of the folds. Content removal is effected by cutting between the folds. The handles may project above the upper edges of the fold when attached to the outer side of the folds (Fig. 1). The handles may be secured by thermal or adhesive bonding to the bag which may be formed from a tube of polythene or polypropylene. The handles 3 which may be plastics plate or tape and the folds are appropriately apertured to form handholes 17.
