Abstract

1,254,914. Pipe rack. BEAMLOCK CORP. Ltd., and YAWATA METAL FABRICATION CO. Ltd. 15 Aug., 1969 [16 Aug., 1968], No. 40874/69. Heading B8M. [Also in Division A4] A rack for storing bars and pipes comprises a plurality of spaced-apart bases 5, a pair of stands 4, 4<SP>1</SP> secured to the central portion of each base 5, a bracket fixture 3 joining the upper ends of the stands 4, 4<SP>1</SP>, lower tie members interconnecting the bases 5 and upper tie members 1 connecting pairs of bracket fixtures 3, a pair of diagonal braces 6 connecting each pair of bracket fixtures with their respective bases, a plurality of arms 8, and means 12 formed on one end of each arm for removably connecting the arms generally perpendicularly to the stands 4, 4<SP>1</SP>. Each stand 4, 4<SP>1</SP> is preferably composed of a channel member with spaced openings 7 in the opposite flanges thereof. The means on the end of each arm 8 comprises a channel member which embraces the channel member of the stand and is provided with openings 10 which align with openings 7. A U-shaped clip 12 is provided with a lateral extension on one leg of the U, which extension is inserted through the openings 10, 7, and the U-shaped portion 12 is then knocked down so that the U embraces the flanges of the stand 4, and channel member on the end of the arm 8. The U-shaped portion 12 may be shaped to embrace one or both flanges of the channel sections. The arm 8 also comprises a channel member which has a stop 9 at its outer end and the web of the channel is provided with spaced openings for the reception of a stud bolt 14 which serves as a partition for bars or pipes of different sizes.
