Abstract
1,247,089. Connecting plug. NOKIA A.B. OY. 23 Oct., 1969 [24 Oct., 1968], No. 52048/69. Heading H2E. A connecting plug having flexible contact fingers (8-11), Fig. 1 (not shown), which are moved outwards to contact the current conductors of a supply rail, Fig. 2 (not shown), by the rotation of eccentrics 18, one for each finger, is provided with a locking device so that the eccentrics can be rotated only when the plug is inserted fully into the supply rail. A resilient locking clasp 20 engages with a locking cam 19 when the operating element 21a protrudes from the casing. Upon insertion of the plug into the supply rail the slide 21 is depressed by the edge (1a), Fig. 2 (not shown), of the rail and the oblique guiding surfaces 21b forces the locking clasp 20 clear of the cam 19 so that the eccentrics may be rotated by knob (14), Fig. 1 (not shown). In the embodiment of Fig. 9 (not shown), the spindle (17) supporting the eccentrics 18 is formed with a rectangular end part (26), and a pivoting double-armed lever (23), pivoted at 22 has a locking element (25) at one end which engages the end part (26), preventing rotation of the cams, unless the operating element (24) is depressed by contact with a protective earthing lead (30), Fig. 8 (not shown), in the current supply rail. A flexible cable (28) connects the lever (23) to a screw (29), Fig. 7 (not shown). In both embodiments the locking device protrudes near the centre of the plug so that oblique insertion of the plug will not affect its operation.
