Abstract

893,980. Two-part couplings. BURNDY CORPORATION. March 16, 1960 [March 23, 1959], No. 9199/60. Class 38 (1). An electrical contact member comprises a flat body 12 with an integral, reversely-bent contactfinger 22 at one end biased away from the body by an integral reinforcing finger 24 extending from an opening 25 for engagement with a projection in a connector body. The other end of the body is formed with a wire-attaching portion 14. Fig. 3 shows the plastic insulating body 28 of a connector with slots 32 into each of which a contact member as above may be inserted until a locking-finger 20 struck up from the body 12 thereof abuts a shoulder 46. At this point the front edge of aperture 25 fits over a ramp projection 38 in slot 32 to prevent withdrawal of the contact. Several contacts are arranged in line on opposite sides of a longitudinal slot in the body 28 adapted to receive a printed circuit panel, correct insertion of the latter being ensured by an orienting stub located in a pair of opposed slots 32 and which enters a slot in the panel (Figs. 6 and 7, not shown).
