[Also in Division B3] A fluid operated actuator comprises a piston 13 slidable in a cylinder 1 and prevented from rotating by an eccentric guide rod 10, the rod 10 carrying a piston head 2 adapted to have a work-engaging element eccentrically mounted thereon. The workengaging element, which may be a welding electrode or work clamp, is mounted in an insulated socket 3 or on an eccentric extension, Figs.2, 3 and 4 (not shown). By rotating an actuator about its axis, the spacing between it and an adjacent actuator may be adjusted, the actual spacing being possibly less than the sum of the radii of the two adjacent actuators.
